Jitterbit accelerates macOS QA testing with Orka on AWS

Dev Tools

Jitterbit, Inc., a global leader in API integration and automation, helps enterprises connect applications, data, and systems to drive digital transformation. To deliver seamless customer experiences, Jitterbit relies heavily on its quality assurance (QA) teams to test across multiple operating systems, including macOS.

Before Orka

When their prior macOS testing solutions fell out of date, Jitterbit turned to Orka to provide clean macOS test environments for release testing.

Jitterbit’s QA team is distributed globally, with several team members sitting in India, a notoriously difficult region for macOS access. QA team members needed an easy way to remotely access macOS environments to complete their bi-weekly macOS testing requirements.

The Orka on AWS solution

Orka on AWS uses the power of AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) to allow Jitterbit to easily create ephemeral macOS test environments in seconds. This allows them to perform clean, reliable tests each time without the time and infrastructure overhead of wiping down a machine.

They can spin up EC2 Macs when they need them and use Orka to create test environments in seconds.

  • Centralized orchestration: Orka provided an easy-to-use platform for managing macOS VMs within AWS.
  • Lightning-fast provisioning: QA engineers can now spin up fresh macOS VMs in seconds, rather than waiting 20+ minutes.
  • Repeatable environments: Every test session starts in a clean, controlled VM, with automatic teardown and re-creation.
  • Team collaboration: Engineers could share VM instances across geographies for real-time debugging.

Jitterbit was excited to learn that Orka is available to purchase through the AWS Marketplace. Organizations can leverage AWS’s Enterprise Discount Program (EDP), which is an effective way to maximize spend on cloud services. “This is definitely saving us money overall,” said Lukas Strakele, Jitterbit’s director of information technology.

The impact

By adopting Orka on AWS, Jitterbit’s QA organization future-proofed its testing workflows. They can now:

  • Start sessions in seconds with fresh macOS VMs
  • Execute reliable, repeatable testing workflows
  • Leverage AWS EC2 Macs in global data centers for maximum performance
  • Pay through the AWS marketplace with existing AWS budgeted spend

With Orka on AWS, Jitterbit’s QA organization has built a foundation for speed, reliability, and collaboration—ensuring the company can continue delivering high-quality integration solutions at scale.
